Z-Too, Archaeogeophysical Prospection provides archaeologists with a preview of their site through the non-destructive technology of magnetometry. Under optimum conditions, magnetic surveys can quickly identify on maps the location of buried features and artifacts and allow for more informed placement of excavation units.
Company ProfileEstablished in 1999, we specialize in magnetometry and recommend using magnetic surveys as an archaeogeophysical prospection method in concert with standard excavation methods. Magnetometry detects subtle changes in the earth’s magnetic field. These magnetic “anomalies” can be natural or produced from cultural sources such as fire pits, bricks, trenches and other features or buried artifacts. Z-Too has performed geophysical surveys throughout the Pacific Northwest and in a variety of site settings, including prehistoric villages and historic townsites, forts, and cemeteries.
